welcome to GOOD SHEPHERD ITI
The institution, named 'Technical Institute,' was established in 1946 on the campus of St. Mary's Monastery in Elthuruth, Trichur. The primary objective of the institution was to provide training to youth in various trades such as welding, carpentry, and masonry. Subsequently, the institute was relocated from Elthuruth to Kunnamkulam, a more conducive location for growth in the technical field. It is managed by the C.M.I fathers of St. George Monastery in Kunnamkulam.
The administration of the institute is under the authority of the Principal, subject to the general direction and control of the manager and the board. In 1948, it was officially named 'Good Shepherd Technical Institute,' initiating K.G.C. Engineering courses with a duration of two years in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical branches. After conducting these courses for nearly 30 years and recognizing the significance of ITC training, the KGCE course was discontinued, and the institute shifted its focus to training youth at the ITC level.
On September 3, 1977, the institute attained the status of ITC. After eight years, in 1985, it obtained permanent affiliation from D.G.E.T., Government of India, New Delhi, for the following ITC trades: Draughtsman Civil, Electronic Mechanic, Electrician, Fitter, and Mechanic Refrigeration & Air Conditioning. According to government orders, the institution is officially known as 'Good Shepherd Private ITI Kunnamkulam.'
